Nevion provides IP gateway technology to two leading U.S. college sports networks

(Cision Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Solutions enable the quality, bandwidth and cost benefits of IP/IT networking Oxnard, CA, 16 May 2014 – Nevion (http://www.nevion.com/), a leader in transporting live media from the camera to the home, has announced that it has been selected by two of the largest college sports networks in the U.S.A. to provide multiple JPEG 2000 gateway solutions to transport broadcast-quality television signals over contribution networks. Enabling transmission of SD and HD television signals over Gigabit Ethernet, these implementations attest to the growing ubiquity of IP -driven solutions for contribution broadcasting.

Both networks have selected Nevion’s TVG450 (http://nevion.com/products/tvg/tvg450) JPEG 2000 gateway, which enables them to deliver the highest quality video over cost-efficient IP links, both existing and ad-hoc connections, with reduced bandwidth consumption due to compression. With the TVG450, the networks have the flexibility of connection management through Connect, VideoIPath (http://nevion.com/products/management/videoipath-cm), or any third-party network management system.

For one of the networks, Nevion’s JPEG 2000-over-IP encoders were embedded into compact units that can be easily transported to live events. This portability, along with the support for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS) , provide fast and easy set-up and management of live contribution on-site.

“In addition to delivering the quality and efficiencies of IP transport, in customer testing the TVG450 consistently outperformed comparable solutions in terms of visual quality, reliability and overall performance, all critical criteria for these major college sporting events, ” said Mike Root, VP of Sales, Americas at Nevion. “The solution is extremely versatile, has low-power requirements and offers multi -channel JPEG 2000 compression for SD and HD media to ensure delivery of professional-quality content without limitations.” Media contacts: Red Lorry Yellow Lorry  (http://www.rlyl.com/)EMEA enquiries: Tristan Earl, t: 44 (0)20 7403 8878, e: [email protected] Americas/Asia enquiries: Kim Willsher, t: ( 1) 310 569 2603, e: [email protected] About Nevion Building on a heritage of innovation and pioneering firsts, Nevion is a leader in media transport - from the camera to the home.
