Gartner Names Cumulus Networks™ a Cool Vendor

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Cumulus Networks, the company bringing the power of Linux to networking, announced that it was named a Cool Vendor in the report, "Cool Vendors in Enterprise Communication Strategies, 2014" by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc. Gartner recognized Cumulus Networks for Cumulus® Linux®, the first true, full-featured Linux operating system for networking hardware.

In the report, Gartner analysts Joe Skorupa, Andrew Lerner and Tim Zimmermann wrote about how "several newer and non-incumbent networking vendors offer novel approaches to solving longstanding network challenges, and are unencumbered by large installed bases or existing hardware-centric product margins they need to protect." The analysts wrote, "The decoupling of hardware and software in an SDN provides potential for a fundamental improvement in how networks are designed, procured and managed."1

"Cumulus Linux gives customers choice and helps free them from the proprietary lock-in that has characterized networking for decades. It also radically reduces the cost and complexity of operating modern data center networks," said Reza Malekzadeh, VP of Business, Cumulus Networks. "We are pleased to see Gartner recognize not only our company, but also the significant changes taking place in networking today."

The report is available on the Gartner website at https://www.gartner.com/doc/2716717.
