WHY FLEXIBLE STUDY WORKS FOR ME [Liverpool Echo (England)]

(Liverpool Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JACK JEVONS, 20, from Warrington, is studying for a degree in humanities.

He said: "I decided two years ago that I didn't want to go to a mainstream university.

"Luckily, I worked as soon as I left college and I still do to this day. What I think is great about the OU is how flexible it is in creating a work, life and study balance.

"All of my course materials are sent out to my house and I can work as much or as little as I want throughout the year.

"Course tutors are at the end of the phone or ready to respond to any email.

"Face-to-face tutorials take place regularly and online groups offer support and advice if there are any difficulties.

"The use of technology and the internet is key to the OU's success and so I am not surprised that more and more younger students are opting for a non-traditional route, rather than a conventional university." (c) 2014 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
