Telcel's Aldea Digital -- Infinitum Digital Inclusion Event Updates on Attendance [Professional Services Close - Up](Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) 258,896 people attended this year's Telcel Aldea Digital - Infinitum, making it the world's largest and most influential digital inclusion event in history. According to a release, participants up to 97 years old were able to get online to access educational materials, skills training, and advanced technologies. According to TELMEX Director General Hector Slim Seade, more than 35,000 of the participants used a computer and email for the first time, and approximately 30,000 more received job training and participated in workshops for entrepreneurs. The event set three separate Guinness World Records for: -The largest digital inclusion event in the world, with 258,896 participants; -The most people to participate in information technology courses; and -The highest number of real world virtual information scans through an Augmented Reality application (49,237 scans in 8 hours) Participants hailed from every state in Mexico and were able to receive training and workshops ranging from introductory level courses to business development, digital education, application development, programming, 3D animation and robotics. Of Aldea Digital's participants, 48 percent were women and 52 percent were men, while the age divisions were 17 percent children (up to 12 years old), 17 percent teenagers (13-18 years old), 60 percent adults, and 6 percent senior citizens. The new "Getting Ready for Work" platform, offering online courses in 20 different trades, including computer technology, masonry, electrical and carpentry, was introduced at the event for the first time. In addition, through the Carlos Slim Health Institute, people were trained to use the ClickiSalud application, which allows individuals to monitor their own health indicators for conditions such as hypertension, obesity and diabetes. Slim Seade said that "Telcel's Aldea Digital - Infinitum allowed hundreds of thousands of people to get online to access educational materials and receive critical training that will help them get the jobs of the future. TELMEX is grateful to the Carlos Slim Foundation, Telcel, the government of Mexico City and countless others for coming together to help make this extraordinary event happen." Slim Seade also stressed the capacity of the TELMEX network, which allowed visitors to enjoy a connectivity speed of 100 gigabytes per second, one of the highest speeds offered at an event of this nature in the world. The connectivity offered by Telmex and Telcel networks allowed 104,662 computers to be simultaneously connected via LAN, WiFi or the 4GLTE network. In addition to those who attended the event in the Zocalo of Mexico City from April 11th-27th, more than 232,000 people followed the activities online. Aldea Digital received 49 world leaders from the technology world, among which were Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple; Moshe Hogeg, Mobli creator; Walter Bender, a researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Yin Lou, Director of International Development at Coursera; Hamandoun Toure, Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union; as well as others who stressed the importance of the event as a unique place where all people can learn and develop through technology. One of the most important activities at Aldea Digital was the Block by Block challenge, organized collectively by TELMEX, ONU Habitat and the government of Mexico City, where more than 8,000 children participated, contributing ideas and projects to improve the environment in the City.
