Pica8 Executives Well Represented Again at Ethernet Summit

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

At the Ethernet Summit in Santa Clara, CA (News - Alert) this week, Pica8 Chief Architect David Liu reminded attendees yesterday that the ultimate success of Software Defined Networking (SDN) will be predicated as much on the ability to provide smooth migration paths as it will be to solve real-world application delivery problems. As part of his discussion, "Developing Open-Source (News - Alert) SDN Switches" during the "Design Problems" panel, Liu maintained that the future for SDN was bright, but said that the market will develop as quickly as data centers can feel comfortable tying together their legacy network with their SDN infrastructure.

"New protocols derived from new ways of thinking are changing how we manage data centers," said Liu. "However, as an industry, we must be vigilant to develop solutions that easy to deploy, mask the inherent complexities of management and provide SDN programmabilitycompatible with leading open source OS and management tools."

In addition to Liu's discussion, Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing at Pica8, also chaired a panel discussion at the Ethernet Summit called "SDN and Open Source Switching."

Tomorrow afternoon during the System Designers track, Yaron Ekshtein, director of technical marketing at Pica8, will participate in a panel discussion on Open Ethernet.
