Disney gives behind-the-scenes look at animatronics of Mine Train [Orlando Sentinel :: ]

(Orlando Sentinel (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 29--Earlier this month, Disney gave fans a glance at the animatronic namesakes of the upcoming Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction.

Today, the Disney Parks Blog released a video from Walt Disney Imagineering giving us a more detailed look at the process to bring the Audio-Animatronics "to life." The video, seen above and available here on YouTube, gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at what Disney Imagineers are calling the "most advanced Audio-Animatronics ever invented." The process begins with a hand-drawn sketch, with Imagineers working with Walt Disney Animation Studios to study the original film, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", for research. All this with the goal of making the smooth transition of the 2D animated characters to 3D versions.

"These figures have taken the Audio-Animatronics technology to a whole nother level," Walt Disney Imagineer Jon Georges said.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the final piece of the New Fantasyland at Disney's Magic Kingdom. The attraction will bring the Snow White franchise back to the park after the closing of Snow White's Scary Adventures in May 2013.

A media event is planned this week to preview the new family-friendly roller coaster, but Disney still hasn't released an official opening date.
