OPINION: One for Dad [The Wenatchee World, Wash. :: ]

(Wenatchee World, The (WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 28--Tonight my son and I are appearing at a fancy black-tie affair at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel to represent our family while my father is being honored at the Puget Sound Business Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame is a product of Junior Achievement, who trains high school students in business practices. My father's honor recognizes his lifelong drive to develop the Columbia River, culminating in the construction of Grand Coulee Dam and the Columbia Basin Project as well as Chief Joseph Dam downstream. The completion of Grand Coulee Dam coincided with the beginning of World War II with its huge demand for power.

Aluminum production for airplanes, power for shipyards and the Hanford Works all relied on the new generators at Grand Coulee.

We thank Junior Achievement for the opportunity to be present at this Hall of Fame banquet.
