Record year at Beattie media firm [Scotsman, The (Scotland)](Scotsman, The (Scotland) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PUBLIC relations and marketing firm Beattie Communications yesterday unveiled record growth which it said could have been stronger if it was not for a lack of suitable candidates to recruit.Turnover increased by 10 per cent to just under GBP7 million in the year to 31 July, with pre-tax profits rising to GBP545,857 from GBP382,556.It was the best year since the firm was founded as Beattie Media 28 years ago.Laurna Woods, group managing director, said: "Each of our profit centres performed strongly, with PR, social networking and digital marketing delivering record performances."Recruiting staff was more difficult than winning business in 2013 and we see no improvement in the foreseeable future."The highest-paid director of the firm, controlled by founder Gordon Beattie, received a pay package of GBP186,129, against GBP180,521 the previous year.
