Dr. Charles Fazio named HealthPartners health plan medical director


MINNEAPOLIS --(Business Wire)--

HealthPartners today announced that Charles Fazio, M.D., M.S., will be joining the organization as health plan medical director effective May 1. Dr. Fazio has had a distinguished career in clinical practice, health administration, and quality improvement.

Dr. Fazio is a past senior vice president and chief medical officer at Medica, serving in several other administrativeleadership roles with that organization as well. He has served in clinical and administrative leadership roles at Mille Lacs Health System, St. Joseph's Medical Center of Brainerd, Minn., Central Minnesota Group Health Plan, and the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement.



Most recently, Dr. Fazio worked as a consultant on workplace health issues for a variety of businesses and is medical director of Healthsense, a Mendota Heights-based health technology company.

He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his post-graduate training at the Central Texas Medical Foundation in Austin, Texas. He holds a master of science in administrative medicine from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Fazio was awarded a Bush Medical Fellowship in 1989 and achieved fellowship status with the American College of Emergency Physicians in 1991.
