Airtel Uganda Gives Boost to Jinja School


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Airtel Uganda have completed Nafungaki Primary School in Jinja recently, their third adopted school and part of their corporate social responsibility prgoramme.

Over seven hundred fifty school children will benefit from the16 renovated classes, together with a library and computer room added.

Airtel Uganda started in July 2012 to adopt new Universal Primary Education schools under the slogan 'Adopt a school'. This came with a recommendation from Ministry of Education,.

The network provider has the intention of renovating and uplifting the school's other existing buildings.

Recently Airtel Uganda launched the 'Brick-by-brick' campaign at Magamaga Iganga road-Jinja that will give Ugandans across the country a chance contribute at least one brick to the building of a new classroom block at the school.



Speaking at the launch, the Airtel Uganda Managing Director Arindam Chakrabarty said Airtel believes that primary education is the Foundation for the social-Economic development of Uganda, and it plays a vital role in creating leaders for tomorrow.

"Through the 'Brick-by-Brick' initiative, we provide a platform for Ugandan citizens to contribute in this noble cause of improving class room facilities and help improve learning conditions as in line with 'Together we can movement'," he continued.


The Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Moses Ali commended Airtel Uganda for partnering with the community and the government in improving the learning environment for Ugandan children. "We are passionate about raising the profile of our primary schools and to be partnering with Airtel and to attain model schools bringing our vision of world class facilities closer to realization", he said.
