All India Bank Officers' Confederation executive committee seeks action on NPAs in banking industry [Mangalore] [Times of India]


(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANGALORE: The 73rd executive committee of All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC) held at Chennai deliberated on the issue of rising non-performing assets (NPAs) in banking industry. The committee passed following resolutions that include immediate publication of names of loan defaulters in national newspapers, making willful default a criminal offence under IPC, registering of FIRs against such defaulters as directed by RBI.



D N Prakash, vice-president, AIBOC, and president of Corporation Bank Officers' Organisation (CBOO) said the committee also demanded that willful defaulters be debarring from contesting elections by amending the Representation of People's Act. The committee also decided to launch nation wide campaign against the menace of NPAs. It also demanded delinking profitability of banking industry, which is largely affected by rising NPAs for reasons beyond the control of employees from the salary revision of bank employees and officers.
