Mobile telephony in Algeria: Density exceeding 100%, number of Mobilis subscribers increases by +17.21% [Algeria Press Service]


(Algeria Press Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ALGIERS- the mobile telephony density in Algeria reached 102.11% in 2013, according to a study on the mobile telephony markets for the period 2010-2013 conducted by the Regulatory Authority of Post and Telecommunications (ARPT), underlining that number of subscribers for the mobile phone operator Mobilis increased by more than 17.21%.



The mobile telephony density which represents the number of subscribers per one hundred inhabitants is increasing since 2010 (90.30%) to reach 96.52% in 2011 and 99.28% in 2012, according to a study released Wednesday.

Mobilis increases by more than 17.21% in 2013 with a total of 12,451,373 subscribers against 10,622,884 in 2012, while mobile phone operator Orascom Telecom Algerie (OTA, Djezzy) totalled 17,574,249 subscribers in 2013 against 17,845,669  in 2012, down by 1.52%.


Mobile phone operator Wataniya Telecom (Ooredoo) reached 9,491,423 subscribers in 2013 against 9,059,150 in 2012, up by 4.77%.
