Tefal tackles obesity in UAE hospitals with Actifry [Mid-East.Info]

(Mid-East.Info Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubai, United Arab Emirates: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote healthy eating habits among consumers, Tefal, one of the industry leaders in small domestic appliances, has joined the nationwide fight against obesity with its participation in the Obesity Day at Rashid Hospital. Tefal's range of Actifry took center stage at the event, with live demonstrations of healthy cooking.

The event is part of a wider campaign pursued by Tefal throughout the year in order to promote a healthy lifestyle among the people in the UAE. This campaign is geared towards educating UAE consumers about obesity-related diseases and the healthy-cooking solutions offered by Tefal.

Pauline Stephan, Marketing Director of Tefal's parent company, Groupe SEB Middle East, said: "Tefal is delighted to have been invited by Dubai Health Authority to take part in Rashid Hospital's Obesity Day. We look forward to promoting healthy eating habits and low-fat cooking methods with our Nutritious and Delicious range." Tefal used the Actifry range – the industry's leader in non-oil fryer -  with its latest model of Actifry 1.2kg which is a part of the French-made Actifry series – to demonstrate how fresh food can be cooked with just one spoon of oil, and how frozen food can be cooked without any oil.

Featuring a larger capacity of Actifry 1.2 kg, with a snacking grid can cook an even wider array of great-tasting and delicate recipes, including sambosa, kebbe, chicken nuggets and many other popular household choices.

"The latest Actifry with the snacking grid has been designed with a larger capacity to suit the Middle East family size. As a pioneer of innovative kitchen appliances, Tefal constantly strives to bring its customers healthier cooking options that deliver the same quality without compromising on the taste of their favourite meals," Stephan added.

Tefal's Actifry is a patented technology based on hot-air pulse with a rotating paddle. This revolutionary mechanism optimizes hot air circulation, giving adequate crispiness and texture to food.

With just one spoon of oil, the latest Actifry can cook up to 1.2kg of french fries, producing fries that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, yet with less than 3% fat.

As with all the Actifry range, the new model is easy to use and clean, and is dishwasher friendly, making it an indispensable component of any healthy home.

Dr. Wafa Ayesh, Director of Nutrition at Dubai Health Authority, commented: "The prevalence of obesity among UAE residents is rising at an alarming rate, which is very worrying because obese people are at higher risks of suffering from chronic diseases such as hypertension, cardiac disorders, and even some forms of cancer.” "The good news is that obesity is in most cases controllable, since it is often caused by a combination of a sedentary lifestyle and fast-food culture. Tefal's participation in our Obesity campaign will be a great opportunity to show our patients how easy healthy cooking can be," Dr. Ayesh added.

In addition to the live cooking demonstrations, Tefal shared practical health and nutrition advice, while providing informative product leaflets containing healthy recipes.

Among the many attractions at the Obesity Day was a raffle draw by Tefal which gave the visitors the opportunity to win an Actifry 2in1.

The Obesity Day aimed to educate Rashid Hospital's visitors, patients and doctors on how to eat healthier through education and pharmaceutical exhibition booths. The event took place at the hospital's Trauma Centre Reception between 8:30 am and 01:30 pm, and hosted talks by several nutritional experts, including Dr. Wafa, who shed light on obesity and the consequential health issues affecting residents in the UAE.
