Eating Recovery Center Partners with Eating Disorder Center at San Antonio (EDCASA)

DENVER --(Business Wire)--

Eating Recovery Center (www.EatingRecoveryCenter.com), an international center providing comprehensive, specialized eating disorders treatment to female and male adults, adolescents and children, has partnered with the Eating Disorder Center at San Antonio (EDCASA).

Founded in 2007 by eating disorder treatment experts Kay C. Watt, MAPC, LPC, CEDS and Susan C. Mengden, PhD, CEDS, EDCASA provides comprehensive outpatient treatment for female and male children, adolescents and adults seeking to reclaim their lives from Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and EDNOS. Evidence-based medical, psychological, and dietetic care, as well as non-denominational spiritual care, is delivered by a compassionate team of multidisciplinary experts in Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient and general Outpatient levels of care. EDCASA is committed to education about eating disorder diagnosis and prevention in the South Texas community. Collaboration with local universities allows EDCASA to remain on the leading edge of evidence-based treatment research, and supports training and development of the next generation of eating disorder specialists for service in the community.

"EDCASA has developed a strong reputation as a trusted and knowledgeable provider of eating disorder treatment in South Texas," explains Ken Weiner, MD, FAED, CEDS, Founding Partner and CEO of Eating Recovery Center. "Partnering with Eating Recovery Center yields many benefits to EDCASA's patients, families and referring professionals. These benefits include best practice sharing with the field's esteemed experts, access to a higher level of care for patients requiring inpatient hospitalization or residential care, and additional resources to expand EDCASA's Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs to help more individuals struggling with eating disorders."

Since EDCASA's inception seven years ago, Co-Executive Directors Watt and Mengden have observed rising demand for comprehensive eating disorder treatment. EDCASA's strong relationship with school counselors and nurses in the community and a growing understanding of eating disorder recognition and diagnosis among referring medical and mental ealth professionals contribute to this growing demand, while Texas' limited options for 24-hour specialized eating disorder care present challenges for patients and families requiring a higher level of care than that provided in EDCASA's 11 hours of daily treatment programming.

"Partnering with Eating Recovery offers valuable resources to help EDCASA meet rising demand for eating disorder treatment in the South Texas community," explains Mengden. "Planned program expansions will allow us to accommodate more patients and families at EDCASA's San Antonio-based treatment center. "

"Additionally, Eating Recovery Center's Inpatient and Residential programs for children, adolescents and adults offer a treatment option for patients requiring medical and psychiatric stabilization or heightened containment prior to beginning-or continuing-the recovery journey at EDCASA," adds Watt.

Eating Recovery Center is committed to expanding access to eating disorder treatment for patients and families. In addition to its comprehensive, Denver-based treatment programs offering the full spectrum of eating disorders care, Eating Recovery Center provides centers of excellence for the treatment of eating disorders across the country.
