Verdantix Says Environment, Health & Safety Leaders Should Invest In A New Wave Of EH&S Software Applications

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

EH&S leaders will increase spend on information management systems at a faster pace than on any other initiative according to a global survey of 250 firms conducted by independent analyst firm Verdantix. Responding to this spending priority, Verdantix conducted a benchmark of the 13 most prominent EH&S software applications to help corporate buyers save time, reduce costs and mitigate risks in supplier selection. The analysis is based on live product demonstrations, an assessment of suppliers on 137 criteria and interviews with an independent panel of 15 customers representing firms with revenues of $406 billion.

"In the last two years, the pace of innovation in the EH&S software market has quickened," commented Jordan Nadian, Verdantix Analyst and co-author of the report. "For EH&S leaders seeking to implement a comprehensive software solution, there is an embarrassment of riches. Supplier investments in mobile device connectivity, management of change modules, slick user interfaces and more powerful analytical tools strengthen the business case to dump spreadsheets and swich off badly designed home-grown databases."

According to the Verdantix report, Green Quadrant EH&S Software 2014, buyers should shortlist different software suppliers based on their specific requirements. Firms requiring a superior user interface should add CRedit360, Enablon and Enviance to their shortlist. Buyers with a focus on air and GHG emissions management should select among Enablon, Enviance, IHS (News - Alert) and SAP. For industrial safety Enablon, Intelex and KMI achieve high feature/function scores. More mature buyers looking at operational risk management should target CMO COMPLIANCE, Enablon, Intelex and SAP (News - Alert). EH&S software buyers also need to consider the industry penetration of each supplier. The nine Leaders in the global market for EH&S software are CMO COMPLIANCE, CRedit360, Enablon, Enviance, IHS, Intelex, MetricStream, ProcessMAP and SAP. Gensuite, KMI, Locus Technologies and EMEX are also prominent suppliers of EH&S software worth consideration by buyers.

"EH&S software providers with a focus on innovation, an existing customer base and more than 100 employees are experiencing very rapid growth" stated David Metcalfe, Verdantix CEO. "Our global survey confirms that hundreds of corporations around the world are investing to upgrade their EH&S data management, reporting and analysis capabilities. That's because managing EH&S risks with spreadsheets is hurting their business. Whether it is financial losses from a safety-related plant shutdown or Board-level anxiety about a lack of accuracy in environmental disclosures, the money is being found to invest in this new wave of EH&S software."

To learn more, attend the Verdantix Summit 'Getting Value From EH&S Software & Technologies', scheduled to be held on September 30, 2014 in Boston. Attendees will hear from a wide range of industry experts on best practices for selecting, using and upgrading EH&S software.
