DDC-I's Safety-Critical Deos RTOS Available for the AMD Embedded G-Series SOC Platform

PHOENIX --(Business Wire)--

DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced the availability of its Deos™ safety-critical real-time operating system and certification artifacts (up to Design Assurance Level A) for the AMD Embedded G-Series System-on-Chip (SOC) family. Deos gives avionics developers targeting AMD (News - Alert) G-Series processors a DO-178-certifiable real-time operating system (RTOS) that delivers best-in class performance with the high level of design assurance required for in-flight applications. Additionally, DDC-I's OpenArbor® Integrated Development Environment now supports the ASRock IMB-A180H reference card as a development target platform for rapid prototyping and development on the AMD G-Series SOC.

"Deos provides an excellent foundation for developing and deploying avionics applications with demanding safety-critical performance and certification requirements targeting AMD G-Series processors," said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. "Our patented cache partitioning and slack scheduling technology, together with our industry standard ARINC (News - Alert) 653 interfaces, allow avionics developers to take full advantage of AMD G-Series processors while providing the highest level of safety critical operation."

"High performance, low power and superb multimedia capability make AMD G-Series SOC ideal for a variety of avionics appliations, especially in the cockpit," added Kamal Khouri, director of embedded products at AMD. "DDC-I's Deos support of the AMD G-Series SOC family gives avionics developers a proven foundation for developing in-flight software that meets DO-178's highest level of software design assurance."

The AMD G-Series SOC is a scalable processor platform that combines a high-performance, low-power CPU, discrete-class GPU and I/O controller in a single package. The AMD G-Series SOC supports single or dual-independent high resolution displays and is available with dual or quad x86 cores at multiple thermal design power (TDP) SKUs from 25W down to 6W TDP.

Deos is a safety-critical embedded RTOS that has been certified to DO-178 DAL A since 1998. Featuring deterministic real-time response, the time and space partitioned RTOS employs patented slack scheduling to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS. Deos is built from the ground up for safety-critical applications, and is the only certifiable time and space partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178, Level A processes from the very first day of its product development. Deos provides the easiest, lowest cost path of any COTS RTOS to DO-178 Level A certification, the highest level of safety criticality.

Development support for Deos includes DDC-I's Eclipse-based, mixed-language OpenArbor IDE, which features C and C++ optimizing compilers, a color-coded source editor, project management support, automated build utilities, and symbolic debugger. Also included is a virtual target hardware development tool, QEMU (Quick EMUlator), which allows developers to develop, debug and test their G-Series code on their development host PC in advance of actual target hardware availability.

OpenArbor is available targeting the ASRock IMB-A180H reference card as a development target platform, which uses a Mini-ITX form factor and offers a choice of dual- and quad-core GX-Series SOC processors. The development board also features up to 16 Gbytes of DDR memory and versatile I/O, graphics, and networking interfaces.

Availability: DDC-I is taking appointments now for demonstrations.
