Four bidders for 3G/4G licences [TeleGeography CommsUpdate](TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sector regulator the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that it received four sealed bids for 3G and 4G spectrum before the deadline yesterday. Incumbent cellcos China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak/Zong), Pakistan Telecommunications Mobile Ltd (PTML/Ufone), Mobilink and Telenor Pakistan all submitted offers for the frequencies, whilst Warid opted not to participate. Despite attempts to court foreign telcos such as Turkcell, no bids were received from new entrants. The PTA will evaluate the bids and announce the qualified bidders on 17 April.
