Convocation: A day they had been waiting for


(Express Tribune (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) For over 400 graduates who were awarded degrees at the 11th convocation of Bahria University held at Convention Centre on Saturday, the day couldn't have dawned soon enough.

v For the newly-minted graduates and their parents, it was a day of pride and joy. Fifteen toppers were awarded gold medals and 13 were presented silver medals out of a total of 430 students.

Muhammad Taimur Ali and Hira Idrees from the Management Sciences department, Ghina Mehr from the Humanities and Social Sciences department, Sana Qamber from the Computer Sciences department, Saba Malik, Haris Javaid, Ameer Hasan Zia, Saba Ghazanfar, Zaheeruddin Babar, Sidra Batool of Earth and Environmental Sciences Department, Urooj Rafiq and Muhammad Jameel from the Software Engineering department, were awarded gold medals.



Mehreen Kamal and Saba Abid from the Management Sciences department, Maha Qasim from the Humanities and Social Sciences department, Amna Waheed Awan from the Computer Sciences department, Ehtisham Abdul Rehman, Tashfeen Muhammad Hammaduddin, Hasan Munir, Sarmad Hassan Sharif and Yawar Abbas from the Earth And Environmental Sciences department, Anum Kaleem and Sadaf Rashid from the Software Engineering department, were awarded silver medals.

Bahria University Pro-Chancellor Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila congratulated the students and their parents duringhis address. "This is a historical day for students and it was now time to play a role in the country's development, he said.


"Bahria University has incorporated extra- curricular activities to promote multi-faceted education." He urged the academia to come forward and contribute to the nation-building process.
