City clean up includes electronic waste [The Daily Star-Journal, Warrensburg, Mo. :: ](Daily Star-Journal (Warrensburg, MO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 11--KNOB NOSTER -- In conjunction with the citywide clean up, people may drop off electronic waste Saturday, May 17, at the city maintenance barn, 400 W. 25th Road. People will be allowed to drop off items including laptop computers, flat screen monitors, fax machines, video game consoles, scanners, cables, Christmas lights and telephones, Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission representative RuthAnn Parrott said. She presented the e-waste pick up idea to the city. "We contract with a company called Vintage Tech so it won't cost the city anything. They will come out and set up a trailer and collect your e-waste. They will take basically anything with an electrical plug," she said. Tube/console televisions and "white appliances" are not accepted. "Those are things like refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, washers or dryers," Parrott said. Medical waste will not be accepted. Parrott said the city will be compensated for the collection. "They pay you by the weight," she said. White items that will not be collected by Vintage Tech will be accepted by the city at the maintenance barn between May 10 and May 18. To dispose of white goods, a person must be a city resident and bring a water bill stub for verification. The city will accept yard debris and landfill items including couches, mattresses, shingles and other building materials.
