WE-Ankor Inks Partnership Pact with MapR Technologies in Israel [Manufacturing Close - Up](Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MapR Technologies, Inc., a provider of the distribution for Apache Hadoop, announced that WE-Ankor, an IT specialist, has become a registered partner in Israel, which has a high potential and very promising market for big data and has started its first proof of concept project using the MapR Distribution for Hadoop. According to a release, WE-Ankor serves over a 1000 clients across the region including large enterprises and global high tech companies. WE-Ankor is also a NetApp STAR partner in Israel, VMware premier partner, and has developed a reputation for expertise within data storage, virtualization, servers, data protection and disaster recovery solutions. As Tal Meiron, director of Big Data Solutions at WE-Ankor explained, the firm has in the past engaged in other projects utilizing other distributions of Hadoop but ran into issues around complexity and lack of enterprise features. "With the launch of our first dedicated big data team within WE-Ankor, we have chosen to standardize on MapR because of the value it brings in terms of simplicity, ease of administration and ability to seamlessly utilize common NFS based capabilities such as snapshots and mirrors." Meiron believes that by using the MapR Distribution for Hadoop its clients can reduce the need to expend additional resources retraining staff or recruiting specialized developers to bridge the gap between Hadoop and commonly understood data storage technologies. "MapR provides the enterprise ready features we need from day one of a project and we have started to work with a number of clients within the defense and telecommunications industries," he added. "WE-Ankor is a great partner for us based on its extensive experience in the data management business and strong expertise in storage and networking infrastructure solutions that are important and complementary to big data requirements," said Xavier Guerin, vice president southern Europe and Benelux for MapR. "WE-Ankor also has a strong customer base in Israel that it has helped to provide best of breed technology solutions for over many years and a proven track record for delivering high value projects."
