Frontier Silicon adds dual band Apple AirPlay to Award-winning Venice 6.5 Connected Audio solution

LONDON --(Business Wire)--

Frontier Silicon will introduce the latest version of its Venice 6.5 Connected Audio module at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (13-16th April, 2014).

The newest version of the solution combines dual band support (2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands) with the integration of Apple (News - Alert) AirPlay for audio streaming devices.

Venice 6.5 is the only non-Apple Connected Audio solution to offer dual band support. This feature improves the robustness of the audio experience by providing an alternative frequency band to address the threat of interference caused by the growing number of devices and appliances which use the 2.4GHz band.

The additional integration of Apple AirPlay (News - Alert) significantly extends the range of smart devices and music content apps which can now interoperate with Connected Audio devices based on the Venice 6.5 solution.

A key element of Frontier Silicon's proposition to customers is the provision of turnkey solutions and engineering support to enable new products to be brought to market quickly, easily and reliably:

  • Venice 6.5's reference design, Jupiter 6.5, includes all the hardware required for an Apple AirPlay-compliant implementation
  • Frontier's field application engineering team provides support trough the entire development process from Wi-Fi antenna selection and placement, to software customisation.

Venice 6.5-based products featuring Apple AirPlay from lead partners will be available later this year.

Besides Apple AirPlay, the Venice 6.5 module also offers a range of additional Connected Audio functionality, including DLNA, UPnP, Bluetooth streaming, Internet Radio, multi-room audio synchronisation, music services such as Spotify (News - Alert) Connect, and DAB/DAB+/FM support. The solution will be demonstrated in Frontier's exclusive HKEF Spring Edition demo suite.

Prem Rajalingham, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Frontier Silicon, said: "The Connected Audio sector is developing extremely rapidly - and it is our intention to remain at the forefront of these developments. Over the last six years, Frontier Silicon has earned a strong reputation for its stable, efficient and highly flexible Connected Audio solutions. Venice 6.5 has been designed into over 100 Connected Audio devices. With our latest version, we aim to enable many new designs with Apple AirPlay, responding to the needs of our customers - and the end users of their devices."
