St. Baldrick's Foundation Sets Head-Shaving Guinness World Record to Raise Awareness and Funds for Childhood Cancer Research

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is proud to announce it has officially set a new Guinness World Record! On Wednesday, April 9, Atlanta barber and longtime St. Baldrick's supporter David Alexander appeared on NBC's TODAY and broke the record for the most heads shaved by one barber in one hour on behalf of the St. Baldrick's Foundation. With 73 heads shaved and 11 seconds to spare, David beat the previous record of 72 heads.

"We are thrilled to have been included in this record-breaking effort that allowed us to call attention to the critical need for funding childhood cancer research," said Kathleen Ruddy, CEO of the St. Baldrick's Foundation. "We cannot thank David enough for his lightning-fast shaving skills and everything he did to make this a success. We also want to thank TODAY and our wonderful volunteers and shaveesSM who made this possible and for their commitment to continuing the fight for kids with cancer."

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research through signature head-shaving events and other fundraising activities. The Guinness World Record Today show event surpassed the Foundation's fundraising goal of $25,000 and has raised more than $30,000, and counting. Funds raised will support the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
