Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced the availability of Radisys' Trillium® TOTALeNodeB™ 2.0 small cell software for Broadcom Corporation's 617xx Series dual mode system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The integrated solution enables mobile operators to deploy LTE-FDD and LTE-TDD small cells to add needed bandwdth and coverage for subscribers, while maximizing spectrum efficiency.

Mobile operators are turning to LTE small cells to address growing data traffic on their networks, driven by consumer desire to download mobile video content. LTE-TDD, with its unpaired spectrum allowing flexible downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) traffic to travel in both directions on the same frequency band, is gaining traction. A number of mobile operators have announced plans to deploy LTE-TDD in 2014, including China Mobile (CMCC), Softbank (News - Alert) Mobile, Sprint and Reliance Jio.

The Radisys and Broadcom solution will support Z-Com's LTE-TDD trial deployments for CMCC in the first half of 2014 with an initial focus on the Enterprise small cell market. Z-Com is a leading global solution provider dedicated to research, design, development and manufacturing of wireless data solutions for broadband wireless Internet access and various mobile data applications.

"Radisys delivers small cell solutions with advanced LTE protocol stacks and comprehensive FDD and TDD support, while Broadcom is a leader in SoCs for the residential and enterprise small cell market," said Greg Fischer, vice president general manager, Broadband Carrier Access (News - Alert), Broadcom. "The integrated solution enables the deployment of ultra-low cost, low power, high performance small cells to add essential capacity and coverage."

"We continue to see momentum for our TOTALeNodeB small cell software for LTE-TDD deployments, particularly with our customers in Asia such as Z-Com, and Broadcom's 617xx Series small cell silicon is ideally suited for LTE-TDD based small cells," said Todd Mersch, general manager, Software and Solutions, Radisys. "We've been long-term collaborators with Broadcom, delivering turnkey LTE solutions to our customers to accelerate their time-to-deployment."
