Ellucian Announces Mercy College; Delaware County Community College Winners of Annual Ellucian Innovation Awards

ANAHEIM, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Ellucian, the leading software and services provider for the higher education community, is announcing at Ellucian Live today that Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry (N.Y.) and Delaware County Community College (PA) the winners of the 2014 Ellucian Innovation Awards. Announced at Ellucian Live, the awards are given annually to customers who apply Ellucian technologies in innovative ways to improve operational efficiency, better serve constituents and improve student success.

As a four-year institution, Mercy College implemented Ellucian Application Hosting Services initially for their core ERP administrative systems. With rapidly growing enrollment, and a desire to improve the reliability, Mercy saw an opportunity to expand the concept to include a broader portfolio of their administrative and academic systems ecosystems into the Ellucian Cloud environment as well. As a result of its foresight, Mercy College improved its business continuity, system reliability, and was able to meet the needs of a growing student body. These staffing efficiencies saved nearly $300,000 in IT expenditures and energy costs.

Delaware County Community College recognized the complicated process of financial aid and was looking to make the pocess more intuitive. Using Ellucian Banner Financial Aid Self Service and Banner WebTailer the College created an easy to use web page called "Loan Wizard" that walks each student through the application process, making it simple and intuitive. As a result, the financial aid office was able to significantly reduce manual loan processing and spent less time answering applicants' questions and processed 63 percent more loans.

"The education community shares a common goal. To ensure students attending higher education institutions receive a high return on investment to ensure future success," said Jack Kramer, senior vice president, customer perspective at Ellucian. "We want to congratulate both Mercy College and Delaware County Community College on their innovative approach to addressing specific needs. The savings - both in money and man hours - is incredibly impressive. And the improvement of the student experience speaks for itself."
