India : INDIAN energy firm deploying offshore network from CERAGON [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) India s biggest energy exploration company commissioned a new high capacity wireless network to be constructed by Ceragon Networks.

The Indian Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) will use the network to link onshore and offshore sites, replacing existing VSAT infrastructure.

Ceragon will give its Evolution Long Haul solution along with a range of services including system design, site-survey, and engineering, project management and installation.

ONGC is India's biggest oil and gas exploration and production company. It makes almost 70% of India's crude oil and around 60% of its natural gas. The company will use Ceragon s Evolution Long Haul solution for mission crucial applications such as SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and video surveillance. It will let ONGC to deliver corporate-wide IT services to all the sites, including SAP applications, emails, internet access, and videoconferencing and more.

Ira Palti, president and CEO of Ceragon said, More and more players in the oil and gas industry find that the limited bandwidth, high latency and availability of VSAT technology simply cannot support the range of value-add services they require. By providing hundreds of Mbps, our systems allow exploration companies to enjoy secure, reliable and high-capacity communication at a much more favourable cost-per-bit , said Mr. Palti.  (c) 2014 Euclid Infotech Pvt.
