THE FIRST PLACE IN STEALING [Sarke Economic Press Monitor (Georgia)]

(Sarke Economic Press Monitor (Georgia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) According to survey, conducted by "Business Software Alliance", Georgia occupies the first place in the world in terms of licensed computer software stealing, the magazine reports. The survey, which applied to 110 countries, showed that Zimbabwe occupied the second place, being followed by Bangladesh, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Usage of illegal software is criminal offense in Georgia, and is punished by penalty, ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.

However, due to absence of plaintiffs on this crime and other reasons, not a single person was punished so far, the magazine points.

Director of Security Experts' Caucasian Academy Lasha Pataraia points that cyber security and piracy issues are very serious in Georgia.

The Academy has signed cooperation memorandum with "Microsoft". "The mentioned memorandum is related mainly to information security, while we plan to implement very interesting projects with "Microsoft"", Pataraia declares (published on March 28).
