Practice Velocity selects InteliChart to Support Meaningful Use Stage 2 in Urgent Care Marketplace

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --(Business Wire)--

InteliChart, a leading provider of patient engagement and health information exchange (HIE) technology, announced today that Practice Velocity, leading supplier of software and electronic health records (EHRs) for urgent care centers, has selected InteliChart's 2014 ONC-certified patient portal as Practice Velocity's exclusive patient engagement solution.

As a result of this partnership, urgent care centers and medical practices using Practice Velocity's EHR may offer patients access to InteliChart's patient portal, enhancing workflows, increasing revenue and enabling patients to engage in their own care and manage their health.

Practice Velocity will leverage InteliChart's application programming interface (API) to seamlessly integrate the InteliChart Patient Portal with the Practice Velocity VelociDoc® electronic medical record (EMR).

"When choosing a patient portal to help our clients meet the stringent Meaningful Use 2 requirements, we were looking for a company that had a successful track record in patient engagement, and shared our pioneering spirit of leading the way in an expanding segment of the healthcare marketplace," said David Stern, MD, CEO of Practice Velocity.

Urgent Care Marketplace Booming

Urgent care centers are increasingly popular today due to the public's continued interest in accessible, convenient, high quality healthcare; a shortage of primary care physicians; and patient demand for more affordable healthcare services.

"As we strive to meet the tremendous demand, InteliChart's patient portal will provide continuity of care in a cost-driven healthcare environment and engge patients in taking responsibility for their own health," said Dr. Stern.

InteliChart's patient portal will provide patients with safe, secure 24/7 access to their health information via the Internet. It will allow patients to view their personal and private health records, including lab and diagnostic test results, view educational material and discharge instructions, and other health information. Having this direct line of communication to providers gives patients the opportunity to manage their health more effectively.

A patient portal also assists medical providers to demonstrate "Meaningful Use" of an electronic medical health record in order to meet federal requirements.

"We are excited about this opportunity to be a forerunner in this burgeoning segment of the healthcare market," said Gary Hamilton, president and founder of InteliChart. "Establishing ourselves in the urgent care marketplace further expands our ability to help hospitals and healthcare organizations increase their service to patients, build referrals through urgent care centers and communicate effectively with patients through our patient portal."
