Hungary's broadband subscriptions rise 0.7% m/m in February 2014. [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]


(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The expansion of broadband DSL, cable and optical Internet subscriptions in Hungary continued in February 2014, as the number of subscriptions increased by 0.7% m/m, or by 16,000 users, to 2.33mn, the communications watchdog said.



The number of broadband DSL lines increased by 0.2% in monthly comparison and stood at 776,038. Broadband cable subscriptions grew by 0.7% on the month to 359,040 as of end-February.

The number of optical cable subscriptions stood at 362,707 at the end of February, up by 1% m/m.


The share of high-speed (bandwidth in excess of 30 Mbit/s) Internet subscriptions in Hungary stood at 38.3% in February, up from 37.8% a month earlier.

Regarding the market share distribution, Magyar Telekom kept its leading position with a share of 35.7%, ahead of UPC with a 21.8% share and DIGI, holding a share of 14%.
