Kobolev appointed Naftogaz chief [Executive Appointments Monitor Worldwide]


(Executive Appointments Monitor Worldwide Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Andriy Kobolev has been appointed CEO of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, Ministers of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak has said.

The government made a respective decision at a meeting that lasted until early Wednesday.

In 2000, Kobolev graduated from the Institute of International Relations at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University, obtaining a master's degree in international economic relations.

From 1999 to 2002, he worked at the Ukrainian office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a management consultant specializing in strategic management and corporate restructuring.

From 2002 to 2010, he held various posts at Naftogaz, in particular, in the holding's department of corporate finance and pricing policy and as an advisor to the Naftogaz head. He participated in the restructuring of the state holding's foreign debt through a formal exchange of eurobonds and other obligations with new eurobonds.



Later he worked as an advisor at the AYA Securities investment firm.

As reported, Yevhen Bakulin, who has headed Naftogaz since March 2010, was detained on March 21, 2014 on suspicion of massive fraud. Early on March 23, the court chose a measure of restraint, according to which Bakulin will be arrested or released on a UAH 1.5 billion bail.


Naftogaz incorporates major Ukrainian oil and gas production facilities and holds a monopoly over the transportation and storage of natural gas in underground storage facilities and the pipeline transportation of oil across the country.
