Canon U.S.A. to Showcase Workflow Solutions for Legal Environments at ABA TECHSHOW 2014

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

Canon (News - Alert) U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions and according to the 2013 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) survey, the primary brand of photocopiers for law firms, will showcase its latest lineup of workflow and productivity offerings that support the management of documents and data at the American Bar Association's TECHSHOW 2014 (Booth #310), Chicago Hilton & Towers, March 27-29. With efficiency and security remaining a top priority for legal professionals, Canon will demonstrate how its latest imaging technologies can streamline document-based processes and help improve firm productivity, while maintaining a high level of security.

Canon solutions can help firms reduce the time and cost spent on document-related tasks, enabling legal professionals to spend more time serving their clients. Canon will give attendees a hands-on demonstration of its new Worldox® solution, a collaboration with World Software Corporation, and additional time-saving technology in the areas of workflow management, cost reduction and security. In addition, Canon will demonstrate its full lineup of solutions designed to enhance the business processes in legal environments, including:

Enterprise Output Management for Securing Documents

Law firms are generally obligated by ethical standards to keep their client's information confidential. In addition, increased compliance and regulatory requirements, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, HIPAA and FISMA, have resulted in law firms and their clients further scrutinizing the way information is being secured.

These regulatory requirements make it necessary to protect unauthorized users from accessing client information. For secure scanning, the ScanFront 300P scanner offers added security with a fingerprint reader to verify registered users and the included ScanFront Administration Tool provides IT managers with remote management options for all ScanFront 300P devices connected to the network, including changing or restricting user settings on devices in varied locations to help facilitate compliance and help mitigate risks. For printed output, uniFLOW Secure Print allows legal personnel to initiate print jobs including email, email attachment, web browser or cloud storage and authenticate prior to releasing print jobs at the device.

Mobile Solutions for Today's Legal Workforce

With the increased use of mobile devices in the workplace, law firms need to find easy solutios to help support policies and on-the-go employees to securely access documents from a number of locations. Canon supports this need with a range of solutions, including the uniFLOW Mobile app and portable, wireless hardware with imageFORMULA document scanners, which helps facilitate easy on-the-go scanning of legal documents.

The uniFLOW platform also equips organizations with secure mobile printing and tools that help streamline the scanning and processing of critical documents. uniFLOW enhances basic mobile printing capabilities by allowing locally stored or cloud-based documents to be safely printed from any internet-enabled mobile device. For added security, the solution requires user authentication to scan and print and helps manage costs by providing detail usage.

Canon's sleek and lightweight imageFORMULA "Scan-tini" is a portable scanning solution for employees to take to client sites, trials and meetings. The mobile document scanner allows legal professionals to conveniently capture, store and share information, even when out of the office, in both Windows and Mac operating systems. And when connected to Canon's optional WU10 Wireless Adapter & Battery Pack, the imageFORMULA P-215 scanner also works wirelessly so files can be sent to compatible smartphones and tablets through the free Canon CaptureOnTouch Mobile app.

Document Efficiency and Productivity

In most law firms, paper documents are still the dominant vehicle for capturing and communicating case information. Manual and inefficient processes may make it more difficult and costly to access these case files in a timely manner. The seamless and immediate sharing of information in central and field locations is becoming extremely important. Canon's easy-to-use, full featured imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P networked document scanner simplifies the distribution of business information across a network to specified destinations while simultaneously improving data security, maintaining information quality and lowering workplace costs. Through the use of a color touch-screen interface, the ScanFront 300P scanner can route digitized documents to email, a shared folder, FTP server, USB drive, printers and fax destinations, individually or simultaneously.

For many law firms, scanning hard copy documents into a document management system can be a time-consuming, manual, multi-step process. Automating this process can help a law firm expedite casework and maximize productivity. Canon developed Scan to Worldox, a serverless, embedded MEAP application that amplifies a firm's control over device usage and printed output. Canon will be demonstrating its new integration of Worldox solutions with Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE lineup. Worldox provides legal professionals a simplistic way to scan hard copy documents into their Worldox document repository indexes directly from their Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFP. Engineered to mirror the Worldox desktop, users will not need to go through the time-consuming task of learning a new application. Documents can be scanned directly into their folders using familiar Worldox Favorite Matters, Quick Profiles, Workspaces, and Bookmarks, which enables a simplified workflow for scanning and archiving documents based on individual preference.
