On-Ramp Wireless Appoints Former Verizon Executives Ivan Seidenberg and Richard Lynch to Board Roles

SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--

On-Ramp Wireless, a leading provider of wireless solutions for M2M communications, announced today that former Verizon (News - Alert) Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg has joined its board of directors, and former Verizon EVP and Chief Technology Officer Richard "Dick" Lynch has joined its advisory board. Mr. Seidenberg and Mr. Lynch each bring a wealth of wireless industry and management expertise to On-Ramp from their extensive careers in telecommunications. Their decision to join On-Ramp further validates the company's vision and business plan as it builds its wireless communications platform for delivering on the full promise of the Internet of Things. In their roles, Mr. Seidenberg and Mr. Lynch will advise On-Ramp on scaling the company, working with large partners, and expanding into global markets.

Analysts predict that billions of devices will be connected in the next evolutionary wave of the Internet. To make this possible, the market will need to turn to more economically-viable wireless network alternatives, such as low power, wide-area networks. On-Ramp's Total Reach Network, with its patented RPMA® (Random Phase Multiple Access) technology, delivers unprecedented reach, capacity and flexibility for wide-area M2M communications. Operating in unlicensed spectrum, the On-Ramp solution uses signal processing innovations to find weak signals even in high noise environments or over large distances with immunity to high interference. Already proven within the Electric Utility and Oil & Gas markets, On-Ramp's Total Reach Network provides the coverage and capacity for the monitoring and management of corporate assets without the costs and operational burdens inherent in other network technologies.

"Having experienced the growth of the cellular industry and the hundreds of millions of users who ave been connected, I am energized to now be involved in growing the use of low-power networks to connect billions of unconnected devices," said Seidenberg. "Though these devices are inherently different, the strategy of building the business structure is the same. I am impressed by On-Ramp's vision and future plans, and believe that it is a leading communications technology for a large majority of future M2M applications."

As a telecommunications industry pioneer, Mr. Seidenberg led Verizon since its inception in 2000 to his retirement in 2011. Since 2012, he has been an advisory partner at Perella Weinberg Partners, a boutique investment banking firm. In addition to his role as CEO of Verizon Communications, Mr. Seidenberg held numerous advisory roles including chairing the Business Roundtable. Currently he is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences' President's Council and serves on the board of trustees of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the New York Hall of Science, Pace University, and on the Board of Directors of BlackRock, Inc.

"I am impressed by On-Ramp's RPMA technology and the opportunity that it provides to accelerate the inevitable connection of billions of previously unreachable endpoints, such as intelligent monitoring devices and machines," said Lynch. "The reliability, security, and cost points made possible by On-Ramp's technology and network design mitigate a huge chunk of the problems which, until now, have prevented these endpoints from being reached. There are so many industry segments that can benefit from this technology, and I am eager to see the On-Ramp team bring its technology to these new markets."

With over 39 years of experience in telecommunications, including as the CTO of Verizon Communications, Verizon Wireless (News - Alert) and its predecessors, Mr. Lynch has been at the forefront of selecting and deploying wireless technology solutions; he was responsible for the selection of CDPD, CDMA, EV-DO and LTE for use within the Verizon network. Currently Mr. Lynch is president of FB Associates which provides advisory and consulting services at the intersection of technology, marketing, and business operations. Mr. Lynch is a Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE (News - Alert)) and has been awarded patents in the field of wireless communications. He has served on the boards of numerous industry organizations including the GSM Association, the CDMA Development Group, and as a member of the Federal Communications Commission Technical Advisory Committee and Communications Security Reliability and Interoperability Council. Mr. Lynch currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ruckus Wireless (News - Alert), Sonus Networks, and Blackberry.

"Having not one, but two, industry pioneers advising us is a great honor and testament to the strength of On-Ramp's wireless technology and business, which was purpose-built to connect the Internet of Things," said Kevin Hell (News - Alert), president and CEO, On-Ramp Wireless. "With their deep experience and relationships in the wireless market, Ivan and Dick will undoubtedly bring tremendous strategic insights to the company and help us build valuable go-to-market partnerships."

Don Telage, Chairman of On-Ramp Wireless, remarked, "We are pleased to welcome Ivan and Dick to On-Ramp and we look forward to working with them closely to fully deliver on the tremendous market potential of the company's next generation RF technology." Barak Bussel, Managing Partner of Third Wave Ventures added, "As lead investor in On-Ramp, we believe Ivan and Dick will help position the company for strong growth across new geographies and vertical markets."
