Kennesaw State University Enterprise Information Management Group Honored by SAS


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KENNESAW, Ga., March 24 -- Kennesaw State University issued the following news release: Kennesaw State University's Enterprise Information Management group has received the 2014 SAS Excellence in Education Award for effectively using SAS software to address critical challenges, which empowers leaders to make confident, insightful decisions as well as spark innovation and expand educational opportunities.



Kennesaw State was honored for its progress thus far in a multi-year implementation of the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Suite for Higher Education (EISE). This suite of data management, warehousing, quality and analysis tools is used to assist in monitoring the accuracy of information in KSU's operational databases such as the Banner student information system as well as improve enterprise reporting and analytics. SAS EISE powers this website with a dynamic portal, entitled VIC (Virtual Information Center), which provides continuously refreshed data for a variety of measures.

"We are very pleased Kennesaw State University has been selected to receive the SAS Excellence in Education Award," said Randy Hinds, vice president for operations, chief information officer and chief business officer. "The Enterprise Information Management group at Kennesaw State has achieved all of the goals set before them thus far, and this award reflects their hard work." Enterprise Information Management (EIM) supports the Virtual Information Center for KSU's statistical data and operational information. EIM is the operations center for KSU's SAS-powered data management systems (operational database reports, data warehouse, marts, dashboards, analytics, etc.).


Kennesaw State's Assistant Vice President and Chief Data Officer Enterprise Information Management Erik Bowe accepted the award on behalf of his group at the academic reception during the SAS Global Forum Executive Conference in Washington, D.C.

"We are excited about the positive recognition the Enterprise Information Management group earned for its implementation efforts to date," Bowe said. "We remain on track to continue enabling KSU's decisions makers with the best data and tools possible. Winning the SAS Excellence in Education Award recognizes an outstanding and innovative team effort." The announcement was made at SAS Global Forum 2014, the world's premier analytics conference and the largest gathering of SAS users, attended by more than 4,000 business and IT users of SAS software and solutions. The SAS Excellence in Education award is given to a college, university, school system or other educational entity.
