ARRIS Empowers China Network Systems to Meet the Demands of Video Digitization [ICT Monitor Worldwide]

(ICT Monitor Worldwide Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) China Network System Co., Ltd. (CNS), a leading multiple system operator in Taiwan serving more than one million cable television (CATV) subscribers, has announced its adoption of high-definition set-tops (HMC3000) and a middleware platform (KreaTV) from ARRIS Group, Inc. through its subsidiary to streamline its transition to digital video.

CNS will use ARRIS digital video solutions to deploy two-way applications over its IP network and its digital TV service, bbTV. ARRIS is leading the industry-wide shift to video digitization, enabling service providers like CNS to conserve hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) bandwidth and support more added-value services over existing infrastructure--for future readiness at a cost savings.

ARRIS is also providing HFC solutions to CNS and is its sole supplier of DOCSIS3.0 cable modems (the SB6141) & gateways (the SBG6580). The SB6141 and SBG6580 provide the return path for the HMC3000 to enable two-way applications on KreaTV.

"ARRIS is empowering CNS to address the industry's rapid shift to video digitization and the associated challenge of fierce competition," said Terry Lee, CEO of CNS. "ARRIS set-tops and middleware enable us to provide high-definition video at a cost-effective price and align our solutions with Taiwan's NCC regulations." "ARRIS is leading the global transition to all-digital and IP video delivery --giving customers like CNS a competitive advantage in delivering tomorrow's services on today's networks," said Tim Gropp, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, ARRIS. "CNS benefits from our proven digital video portfolio and our global engineering footprint, which offers the company localized solutions and support as it scales to more services and subscribers."
