Burgerville Leverages Aerohive's Retail Networking Solution [Manufacturing Close - Up]

(Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aerohive Networks, a company focusing on controller-less Wi-Fi and cloud-managed mobile networking for the enterprise market, announced that Burgerville, a Pacific Northwest quick service restaurant company, has implemented Aerohive's wireless LAN networking solution to offer secure wireless access across its store locations and become fully PCI compliant in restaurant operations.

In a release, Aerohive Networks said Burgerville required an upgrade from its consumer-class wireless product at its headquarters and restaurant locations.

Apart from poor connectivity and complaints from guests, Burgerville needed a solution that would have enterprise-grade security features for PCI compliance, as well as centralized management capabilities for its VPN.

Initially, Burgerville's legacy system was approaching its end of life, but a network upgrade using another controller-based system would mean increased cost and complexity with greater risk of a single point of failure.

PCI compliancy was the main driver for Burgerville's network infrastructure. In addition, Burgerville sought a new POS solution that enabled a Wi-Fi solution that was resilient enough to support the POS application and tablet devices. Aerohive offered active directory authentication, a key requirement for PCI compliance, which allows corporate employees at restaurant locations to authenticate back to corporate, a capability Burgerville did not have previously.

Burgerville is using HiveManager Online to manage all Aerohive branch routers and access points, allowing the company to update configurations simultaneously in the cloud, as well as exploit a variety of features available from Aerohive. Burgerville also implemented Aerohive's Branch on Demand solution, combining branch router platforms, HiveOS router capabilities, cloud-enabled VPN gateway, and the Aerohive Cloud Services Platform.

The IT team at Burgerville worked closely with PavelComm to deploy Aerohive's technology throughout the restaurant chain. PavelComm is a technology company and authorized Aerohive reseller primarily focused on the Oregon and Washington markets. A close partner with Aerohive, PavelComm played a significant role in the implementation process.

Since deploying Aerohive's access points and HiveManager Online, Burgerville is now able to prioritize traffic and devices, as well as allow priority on the network for its employees and applications.

"Regardless of the industry, from medical, education to retail, Aerohive is an ideal Wi-Fi solution," said Dave Tallbut, director of IT services at PavelComm. "Aerohive offered a compelling retail solution for Burgerville, allowing the company to offer seamless WLAN to guests, be fully PCI compliant and take advantage of a host of enterprise features for greater productivity and enhanced customer experience." Aerohive is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Burgerville has 39 locations throughout Oregon and Washington, and a workforce of over 1,500 employees.
