BRIEF: Suspicious paint job leads deputies to stolen pickup [Redding Record Searchlight, Calif. :: ]

(Record Searchlight (Redding, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 16--A woman painting the doors of a pickup with house paint tipped off Shasta County sheriff's deputies to the location of the stolen vehicle on Saturday.

The Sheriff's Office got a report about 8:40 a.m. of a pickup that had just been stolen from a locked, rear-gated area at High Performance Wall Systems on Tanqueray Court. After contacting the business owner, deputies were able to find fingerprints and obtained video surveillance footage of the theft.

Later Saturday, deputies received a report of a woman painting the doors of a pickup with a can of house paint at Abernathy Lane and Colonial Avenue, not far from where the pickup was stolen. Deputies found the pickup abandoned in a vacant lot near some trailers and contacted the owner to come and pick it up.

Deputies searched the area and also found work equipment that was missing from the pickup.

Based on their investigation, deputies are looking for two people for questioning in the vehicle theft.
