Over half of mobile users don't use their full allowance [ICT Monitor Worldwide]

(ICT Monitor Worldwide Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Over 50 percent of mobile customers in Australia that have an included allowance are not using their full allocation of call, text or data, research by the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (Accan), Choice, and the Consumer Action Law Centre has found. About 15 percent of consumers were not even aware if they had used their monthly mobile phone allowance or not. The research also found that one in five people with an included allowance found unexpected charges on their last mobile phone bill, such as late payment fees, premium service fees, or excess usage fees. Among these consumers, almost 50 percent did nothing about it. Around one in three people with an unexpected charge took it to their provider, and 10 percent asked for a refund. Among the reasons for an unexpected charge, excess data usage was the most common.
