Radio Frequency Monitoring Systems Procurement Category Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 11, 2014 Radio frequency monitoring systems have a buyer power score of 3.5 out of 5, reflecting slightly favorable market conditions for buyers. Factors limiting buyer power include the relatively small number of suppliers, few available substitutes, product specialization and volatile input costs. “Despite these limiting factors, market characteristics that have increased buyer power are slow and steady price growth with very little volatility, low switching costs and low vendor financial risk,” says IBISWorld procurement analyst Michelle Hovanetz.

About 750 suppliers provide radio frequency monitoring systems. There is a medium level of market share concentration among this relatively small number of suppliers. Agilent, Danaher (brand name Tektronix), Rohde & Schwarz and Anritsu are among the largest manufacturers of radio frequency monitoring systems. Substitutes do not exist for the purpose of monitoring radio communications; however, monitoring systems can be rented or leased rather than purchased. In addition, radio frequency monitoring systems in general have a medium level of product specialization. While basic, ready-to-order product options are available, most suppliers allow for configuration to buyer specifications with each order, making it easier for buyers to configure a system best suited for their particular application. “A small number of suppliers and a fairly specialized product decrease buyer power because they limit a buyer's purchasing options in addition to limiting the competition within the market,” adds Hovanetz. “These factors make buyer negotiation more difficult.” Alternatively, low switching costs help improve buyer power because they make it simple for buyers to move from supplier to supplier, negotiating lower prices. Low and steady price growth has benefited buyer power in recent years. Prices have risen very slightly and are expected to continue rising in the coming years. Price volatility has been low, indicating very little fluctuation in the price trend historically. Conversely, the price of raw material inputs such as steel and plastic has increased with a high degree of volatility, contributing to larger costs for suppliers. Price increases due to these higher input costs are mitigated by the consistently declining cost of technology. Vendors in this market have fairly high profit margins on average, helping to contribute to an overall low level of financial risk among firms in the market.
