Pakistan Post to expand EMO service countrywide


(National Herald Tribune (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Pakistan Post will expand Electronic Money Order (EMO) service to sub-post offices across the country, keeping in view the its competitive market and success at general post offices (GPOs).



A PC-1 prepared by the Information Technology Wing, which covers 3,080 departmental post offices for two services (EMO and Utility Bills Collection,had been submitted to the Ministry of Information and Technology for vetting.

Then it would be forwarded to the Planning Commission of Pakistan for further processing. "The estimated cost for two services, EMO and Utility Bills Collection, in 3,080 post offices along-with hardware will be Rs 685.176 million" he added.


He said that the EMO had become popular among the public. As many as 21,054 EMOs had been issued till date. The project will be completed in three phases- in the first phase the EMO service will be expanded to 1,000 sub-post offices, in the second to 1,000 and in third to remaining 1,080, he added.
