Syniverse Is Enabling Roaming for the World's Growing LTE Markets

TAMPA, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Syniverse today announced it has bolstered its position as a leader in LTE (News - Alert) enablement through extensive adoption of its IPX Network Solution - the network backbone that makes LTE roaming possible - in and around the critically important North America market. Syniverse's (News - Alert) IPX currently reaches nearly 95 percent of mobile users in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Maintaining a pronounced presence in the market has been a signature strength for Syniverse, with North America representing approximately 53 percent of the global data roaming volume, 42 percent of the global voice roaming traffic and over a third of the world's text roaming volume.

"We're proud to be a global provider of LTE solutions that reach over 35 countries on six continents, especially in the areas where LTE is developing at its fastest rates," said John Wick, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Transaction Services, Syniverse. "Through our LTE and IPX momentum in these markets, Syniverse's reach touches nearly half of the world's mobile roaming traffic."

As end-user expectations have heightened, Syniverse's solutions have played a leading role in helping mobile service providers handle user demand for ubiquitous high-speed data access. In the North America region alone, Syniverse has deployed LTE roaming solutions that reach more than 60 percent of end users.

Syniverse's IPX Network and Diameter Signaling Service are core components of the company's LTE solution portfolio, offering carrier-grade, five-nines connectivity that fully enables the quality and class of service required for LTE. Syniverse recently enabled the successful launch of international LTE roaming between two Tier 1 operators in the United States and Canada. The launch was the first to deliver cross-border LTE roaming capabilities in North America, allowing each operator's end users to access the level of broadband speeds afforded by LTE when traveling in the other's coverage area.

Syniverse's IPX Network provides global reach via direct connection and peering agreements, significantly accelerating the ability of mobile network operators to roll out global LTE roaming by eliminating the need to establish and maintain one-to-one direct connections between each other.

To make connecting to the IPX network easier and more cost-effective for mobile network operators, Syniverse has implemented points of presence (POPs) in locations around the globe. In 2013, Syniverse added POPs in Frankfurt, Germany, and Marseille, France, increasing its worldwide total to 18 across North America, Asia and Europe.

"We focus on helping our mobile operator customers deliver seamless, ubiquitous 4G experiences for their end users," Wick said. "This means mobile end users can expect the same quality of service, speed and experience both at home and wherever they travel."

Syniverse's leadership in LTE and IPX has been recognized across the mobile ecosystem. In 2013, the company received a Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award for its role in enhancing network efficiency through improved connectivity and visibility with Bahamas Telecommunications Company. Syniverse's LTE roaming trials and interoperability solutions also were named to the shortlist for a 2013 LTE North America Award. In addition, Syniverse's IPX was named best transport solution at the 2012 World Vendor Awards and has earned several other industry honors.
