NTT Communications Chooses LuxConnect to Expand Tier-1 Global IP Network to Luxembourg

LONDON & BETTEMBOURG, Luxembourg --(Business Wire)--

NTT (News - Alert) Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the global data and IP services arm of Fortune Global 500 telecom leader NTT (NYSE:NTT), announced today that it has expanded its global IP network footprint with a new point-of-presence (PoP) in Luxembourg, one of the fastest-growing markets for Internet-related business in Europe. NTT Com will provide IPv4/IPv6 dual stack access via its extensive Tier-1 IP network not only to domestic providers of Internet services (ISPs) and content (ICPs), but also foreign companies providing Internet-related services in that market. NTT Com will deploy the new IP PoP at LuxConnect's DC2, a 21,000-square-meter, Tier IV facility located in Bissen, Luxembourg. The PoP will be ready for customer service by the end of March 2014.

Luxembourg occupies a highly strategic position in the middle of a consumer market of approximately 500 million people and this unique location enables low latency access to the most important European peering locations of Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, and London. Luxembourg is quickly emerging as a major European content magnet, a consequence of its very high-quality data centers, a favourable corporate environment, and low-latency fiber routes to the major European peering hubs.

Simon Waller, Head of Global IP Network Sales at NTT Europe, said, "The new PoP in Luxembourg fits our strategy to take NTT Com's network into the most exciting Internet growth markets." Waller continues, "Luxembourg has started to attract the Internet's largest and fastest-growing content companies and their requirements for high-capacity, high-quality IP Transit makes it a very exciting market for us."

Edouard Wangen, CEO of LuxConnect, explained, "LuxCnnect is more than pleased that NTT Com has chosen LuxConnect's data center in Bissen to deploy its IP PoP in Luxembourg. This is a highlight not only for LuxConnect, but also for our customers who can now benefit from the highly qualitative Tier-1 IP network and IPv4/IPv6 services offered by NTT Com."

Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg's minister for Communications and Media, commented, "I welcome NTT Com's decision to invest in Luxembourg. Virtually all major Tier-1 IP network providers are now operating in our country. This is proof of Luxembourg's increasing role as a trusted content hub in the heart of Europe. Our government remains committed to providing the best possible overall business environment for tech companies to flourish on a European scale."

NTT Com's Tier-1 Global IP Network is a pioneer of IPv6 technology, provides a single global AS (2914) and supplies high levels of availability and performance. NTT Com is the world's second largest carrier of Internet traffic and is consistently ranked in the top 10 in all continents (first in Asia).
