PCTEL Launches SeeGull® IBflex™ In-Building Scanning Receiver at Mobile World Congress

BARCELONA, Spain --(Business Wire)--

PCTEL (News - Alert), Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in simplifying wireless and site solutions for private and public networks, announced the launch of the SeeGull® IBflex™ scanning receiver at the Mobile World Congress. The IBflex increases the ease and efficiency of in-building wireless network testing and scans all major cellular technologies, bands, and WiFi (News - Alert) in a single walk test. The flexible design and its unique "hot swap battery system" reduces total testing time and unwanted interruptions.

Concurrently, PCTEL announced that Ascom Network Testing, the leader in mobile network testing, optimization, and benchmarking solutions, will be featuring the SeeGull IBflex with its industry-leading TEMS™ mobile network drive test and walk test products at its MWC booth.

Designed for the complex in-building environment, the IBflex boasts a small form factor and is lightweight for easy carrying. Its low power consumption and hot swap batteries extend walk testing duration. For added convenience during and after data collection, the IBflex supports both wired and wireless connectivity to a laptop or tablet. Users can also store data directly to a USB flash drive or SD card.

"Mobile device users consume 90 percent of their data indoors and they expect a seamless in-building experience on both cellular and WiFi networks," said David Neumann, PCTEL's Vice President and General Manager, RF Solutions. "Thanks to its innovative feature set, the IBflex has the potential to increase the efficiency of both in-building wireless network testing and the networks themselves. The IBflex has the measurement accuracy, dynamic range, and scanning speed for traditional drive testing as well," added Neumann.

The scanner's field-upgradeable software configuration suppors any cellular band from 570 MHz to 3.8 GHz, while WiFi support covers both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Currently supported cellular technologies include LTE (News - Alert) FDD, TD-LTE, CDMA, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, EV-DO, and GSM. The IBflex is also Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) ready, featuring dual-port scanning for advanced LTE optimization.

"Ascom is pleased to highlight the SeeGull IBflex as an important option within the TEMS™ line of product solutions," said Rikard Lundqvist (News - Alert), CEO, Ascom Network Testing. "As leaders in the testing field, we understand that indoor environments present unique challenges for network coverage and capacity, which need to be addressed with a solution geared towards their specific requirements. The combination of TEMS and the IBflex will make it easier for our customers to overcome those issues, and provide a superior network experience."
