(NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home, today announced its first LTE gateway design win for the recently introduced Fusiv® Vx575 chipset. Comtrend, a leading global provider of advanced networking solutions, selected the Fusiv® Vx575 processor for its next-generation LTE gateway platform. The announcement marks a major move by Ikanos to expand its suite of high-performance gateway processors beyond the DSL market and into the growing wireless segment, which continues to experience one of the highest compounded annual growth rates among networking technologies. Powered by the Ikanos Vx575 family processors, the Comtrend platform is one of the first residential gateways in the industry to support Category 7 LTE data rates, reaching up to an aggregate rate of 400Mbps. In addition to the ten high-performance and low-power Fusiv® co-processor engines, the architecture is designed with a high-performance SMP dual-core CPU subsystem. Each CPU packs up to 1.2GHz of processing power for carrier and OEM customization and differentiation. The design win with Comtrend reaffirms Ikanos' market-leading position in intelligent gateway technology and expands the company's addressable market to include LTE wireless gateways. The Fusiv® processor's distributed architecture provides solution providers sufficient headroom for growth, allowing the chip's host processors to support a breadth of carrier-specific applications while using multiple dedicated co-processors to off-load functions as diverse as cloud access, high-performance wireless content distribution within the home or enterprise, and network-attached storage (NAS). In addition, the platform also supports carrier-grade voice functionality (VoLTE).
