SMART Announces the Next Level of SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync

Enhancements include interactive sharing that enables touch and inking into any software application; integration with SMART Meeting Pro PE^™ (Personal Edition) software and the introduction of unbound workspace, as well as new display sizes and combinations to bring collaboration to more work spaces. These additions further differentiate SMART in the Lync Room System (LRS) category and are being unveiled for the first time at the Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Conference 2014 which opens today in Las Vegas.

Freedom to interact
SMART is changing the way users engage with and capture content in a Lync meeting. With the introduction of interactive sharing, users now have the freedom to work with any content directly on the display without being restricted by a mouse and keyboard. The multi-touch capabilities enable natural interactio with any application, letting users easily collaborate using familiar programs.

With the addition of SMART's leading collaboration software, SMART Meeting Pro PE, the collaboration experience has been extended. Users are no longer restricted to only making annotations into PowerPoint or the Lync whiteboard. Now notes can be made onto any software application, including popular applications such as Microsoft Word^®, Excel^® and PDF files and saved directly into the files in the native format for future reference or editing in real time. SMART Meeting Pro also includes unbound workspace, the revolutionary whiteboard application that allows for panning and zooming to any level of detail, regardless of the complexity of the content to promote free-flowing, comprehensive collaboration sessions. This feature has already proven to be a game changer for data-intensive industries and is now available as part of the SMART Room System experience. No other Lync Room System offers this outstanding level of collaboration.

Largest range of room sizes
The SMART Room System was originally announced with the largest array of interactive display options with three room sizes including both 70" (177.8 cm) and 84" (213.36cm) display combinations. Now, the company has added two new sizes, including single and dual 55" (139.7 cm) displays, to offer even more selection for enterprise customers. The range of choices accommodates room sizes ranging from 50 ft² to 300 ft², suitable for 2 to 16 participants. The additional sizes make the SMART Room System the only LRS offering smaller screen sizes suitable for executive offices and informal workspaces, as well as extra-large sizes for formal board rooms and auditoriums.

Pricing and availability
The custom-designed SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync is shipping globally and includes one or more SMART Board interactive displays, integrated components comprising a codec, camera, speakers, a room control console and table-top microphones. New 55" displays are expected to ship at the end of February and interactive sharing; including integration with SMART Meeting Pro Personal, is expected to become available in June 2014.
