Morro Bay chamber has new president, still seeking CEO [The Tribune (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) :: ]

(Tribune (San Luis Obispo, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 07--The Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce has a new president of its board of the directors.

Jennifer Redman, a financial adviser with Morro Bay's Edward Jones Investments on Kennedy Way, took over as president of the chamber in January, succeeding Susan Stewart. Chamber presidents typically serve about a year.

Redman, who lives with her family in Morro Bay, had been serving on the chamber's board of directors the past three years. The president of the board and director duties are volunteer positions.

Redman has helped coordinate fundraising, membership, and the Morro Bay 50th anniversary dinner.

The board has taken a more active role in chamber activities since Chief Executive Officer Craig Schmidt stepped down Dec. 31. Schmidt will remain as a member and volunteer.

The chamber is in the hiring process of a new executive director, Redman said, which will carry a slightly different job description than the former CEO role. The deadline for applications is Feb. 17. For more information, contact the chamber's executive assistant Lisa Winn at [email protected].

The chamber, comprised of about 325 members, is seeking to grow its membership and work with the Morro Bay City Council to enhance membership business as well as to provide information and networking opportunities, Redman said.

The chamber has coordinated with the city on a sign ordinance and economic development.
