Typo keyboard maker lashes out against BlackBerry's patent claim [Asian News International]

(Asian News International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Washington, Feb. 07 (ANI): Typo, the start-up in row surrounding the 'BlackBerry inspired keyboard add-on for iPhone, ' has reportedly lashed out against the smartphone manufacturer.

Backed by TV and radio personality Ryan Seacrest, Typo has submitted a 26-page argument in a California court against BlackBerry demanding for a preliminary injunction preventing sales of its keyboard.

According to PC World, Typo has argued that in contrast to what BlackBerry has alleged, its keyboard add-on for iPhone does not cause the company 'irreparable injury' because BlackBerry's products are not selling anyway.

Typo further argued that BlackBerry has focused on the enterprise market while Typo is targeting consumers.

It further said that small keyboards with nearly identical layouts as the one 'claimed' by BlackBerry have been around since the mid-1980s.

Further taking a dig at the prices, Typo said that its keyboards are sold on its websites for 99.00 dollars, and are for people who already own an iPhone, while BlackBerry phones are sold on its own website, costing 549.00 dollars, and require activation from a cell phone carrier, the report added.
