Clear Vision Information Systems and Strategic Health Group Executives to Conduct Webinar on Data Sharing as a Route to Improve Patient Care

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

Clear Vision Information Systems CEO Tom Peterson and Strategic Health Group Managing Director Hank Osowski will comprise the faculty for an important healthcare webinar exploring the challenges connected to sharing patient data among physician, hospitals and insurers as a path to improving patient care.

The webinar is jointly sponsored by Healthcare Web Summit Media and Payers and Providers and will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 10-11 a.m. (PST). Participants may register at https://www.managedcarestore.com/summit.htm or by calling 209-577-4888.

"Residing with providers and payers are mountains of raw data regarding patient records, encounters and outcomes," says Peterson. "With the emergence of accountable care organizations and a bundled payment environment, the need to deploy this data in ways that improve patient care and outcomes is more critical than ever."

sowski says that in this new environment, patient data needs to be quickly, accurately and confidently shared "not only with traditional organizations but between physicians, hospitals, insurers and others." As such, the Feb. 20 webinar will explore the challenges of sharing data and aligning incentives and provide a blueprint for an integrated, virtual sharing of data approach that is commensurate with the changing healthcare marketplace.

Drawing from best practices in data sharing including case studies, the webinar will look at how data can be aggregated, the importance of converting raw data into actionable intelligence, and the root causes that often serve as barriers to data sharing, including what Osowski calls healthcare's "disconnected data universe." The webinar will also look at just how much data should be shared. "Too much and it becomes a burden; too little and it may not be actionable," says Peterson.

Peterson brings to the webinar more than 20 years of experience working with data for healthcare companies and the Medicare program, from both the fee-for-service and managed-care perspectives. He has an extensive background in clinical data related to risk adjustment, including system design and analysis, provider outreach and training program development. Osowski is a frequent speaker and author on critical issues facing Medicaid and Medicare and has provided leadership to commercial, Medicare and Medicaid health plans for more than three decades. He is a former senior vice president of corporate development for SCAN Health Plan and also served as a member of the senior management team at Blue Cross of California.
