Telecommunications Services in Sultanate/ Statistics [Oman News Agency]


(Oman News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)         Muscat, Feb 1 (ONA) --- Subscribers of the fixed phone service in the Sultanate stood at (349,444) at the end of November 2013 against (304,545) at the end of December 2012, constituting a rise by (14.7%).    Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) pointed out that subscribers of billed fixed phone service in the Sultanate stood at (269,559) at the end of November 2013 against (225,922) subscribers at the end of 2012. Subscribers of pre-paid fixed phone service (Sahl) stood at (25,713) against (26,065) in 2012. The number of public phones all over the Sultanate stood at (6,801). The number of integrated services digital networks (ISDN) stood at (45,548) compared to (43,888) at the end of 2012.   The statistics also pointed out that the number of fixed telephone lines subscribers in the Governorate of Muscat stood at (167,481) by the end of November 2013, followed by the Governorates of South and North Al Batinah (40,192), the Governorate of Dhofar (26,523), the Governorate of A'Dakhiliyah (21,771), the Governorates of South and North A'Sharqiyah (19,684), the Governorate of A'Dhahirah (8,430), the Governorate of Al Buraimi (7,075, the Governorate of Musandam (3,362) and the Governorate of Al Wusta (754).    Subscribers of billed and pre-paid GSM service stood at (5,587,337) at the end of November 2013 compared to (5,277,591) by the end of 2012, constituting a rise by (5.9%).    Subscribers of billed GSM service stood at (493,746) by the end of November 2013 against (464,670) during 2012, constituting a rise by (6.3%).    Subscribers of pre-paid GSM service rose by (5.8%) to (5,093,591) against (4,812,921) by the end of 2012.   The statistics also pointed out that the total subscribers of Internet at the end of November 2013 stood at (155,181) compared to (119,398) subscribers at the end of 2012, constituting a rise by (30%).   The number of subscribers of phone internet service at the end of November 2013 stood at (4,429) compared to (6,074) during 2012, a decline by (27.1%), which included subscribers of billed service (4,216) and subscribers of pre-paid cards (213).     Subscribers of fixed broadband service stood at (150,752) at the end of November 2013 compared to (113,324) at the end of 2012.   The number of leased internet lines subscribers stood at (3,651) as at the end of November 2013 compared to (3,681) in 2012.----Ends/AH/FS (c) 2014 (C) .
