Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Supports Google Play for Education with K-12 Content

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced a partnership with Google (News - Alert) to deliver K-12 core curriculum for the first time through Google Play for Education. Already established as a trusted resource for students and teachers in the higher education space, Google Play for Education will now provide access to a broad range of HMH's market-leading K-12 education content across multiple devices.

Widely adopted core content, such as GO Math! and Journeys Common Core, will be among the first K-12 titles to become available on Google Play for Education, which can be read on Android (News - Alert) tablets, Google Chromebooks or online via the Play Books reader. The partnershi will also feature many of HMH's curriculum-aligned literature titles.

"We believe that for a learning transformation to truly take hold, students and teachers must have great access to quality content," said Mary Cullinane, Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs at HMH. "By supporting multiple methods of distribution, HMH provides customers with the choice and flexibility to tailor content delivery to their technology resources and to the needs of the student."

The affordable access model, which offers select HMH content for 180- or 360-day periods, provides educators with the flexibility to regularly access updated versions, change curriculums from year to year, or to customize reading materials to individual students.

Currently in pilot phase with select schools, K12 content will become available in Google Play for Education in the coming weeks.

Google Play for Education is Google's content store for K-12 schools. It gives educators access to a wide selection of teacher-approved apps, books, and videos, helping them deliver more engaging and personalized learning to each student. Teachers can search for content by grade, subject and standard (including Common Core), make purchases using a pre-loaded school PO rather than a credit card, and deliver content to students' tablets in a matter of seconds.
