Naza donates to disaster fund [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: The corporate social responsibility arm of Naza Group of Companies, Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin yesterday donated RM250,000 to the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima to aid flood victims in the east coast states and Johor.

The cheque was presented by the youngest daughter of the late Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Nur Nadia, and her brother CEO of the Group SM Nasaruddin to Media Prima Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) group adviser Datuk Ahmad A. Talib.

Prior to the setting up of Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, the company had engaged in CSR through the Naza Group of Companies.

Nur Nadia said the Naza Group had to date donated RM700,000 to the disaster fund.

Back in 2010, the group donated RM100,000 to the victims of the Ulu Langat landside via the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima.

Spearheaded by Puan Sri Zaleha Ismail, wife of the late SM Nasimuddin along with the Board of Trustees, the foundation was formed in Dec 2013, in honour of the Naza Group of Companies' founder.

"We hope that the foundation can provide a positive legacy for my father's name to live on," said Nur.

"Initially, the foundation's aim was to provide aid to the poor but we are now branching out to do more charitable activities in areas of poverty, health, religion, education, and disaster relief," she said.
