Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) Sets Sights On Libya Market With New Tripoli Office

(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) has announced the inauguration of its new office with advanced facilities in Tripoli, Libya.

The office is meant to enhance the company's operational agility for delivery of its mobile broadband infrastructure for all operators in the country.

The new office strengthens NSN's presence in North Africa; further reiterating the firm's commitment to help operators in the Middle East and Africa region build world-class mobile broadband infrastructure.

"We are delighted that NSN as a global technology leader is opening a new office in Tripoli," said Faisel Gergab. "This enhances the position of Libya as a technology hub, while improving knowledge transfer toward our country. NSN's operations in Libya will greatly contribute to our mobile broadband infrastructure and the country's development." Currently, Libya has about 8 million mobile subscribers in Libya at present, more than its total population of about 6 million people due to the multiple SIM culture as many users have subscribed with both the two operators - Libyana and Almadar.

"NSN is committed to continuing its focus on Libya and to playing a strong role in developing the Libyan mobile broadband infrastructure," said Igor Leprince. "The opening of this modern office marks our readiness to deliver large-scale mobile broadband rollouts in Libya. As the world's specialist in mobile broadband, NSN will help Libyan operators provide a superior mobile broadband experience for their customers." The setting up of the office is also expected to strengthen quality of delivery to operators and support Libya's initiatives for nationwide broadband connectivity.

NSN has also committed to train Libyan telecom engineers to become mobile broadband practitioners, helping create more employment opportunities for Libyan youth, and collaborating with Libyan universities to impart telecom expertise to students through seminars and internship opportunities.

NSN's Libya office will fall under the Middle East and Africa region cluster which stretches from Morocco to Pakistan and from South Africa to Iraq, serving a population of 1.2 billion people.

Countries included in this cluster - apart from Libya - are Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Iraq, Kenya, Tanzania, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Angola, Pakistan, Bahrain, Burkina Faso, Congo B, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Malawi, Madagascar, Niger, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia and Lesotho.

Within these countries, NSN has developed partnerships with various operators including Vodafone Group, Zain Group, STC Group, Ooredoo Group, Etisalat Group and Bharti Group.
